A Vision of Students Today

The below video was created by Michael Wesch in collaboration with 200 students at Kansas State University. It summarizes some of the most important characteristics of students today - how they learn, what they need to learn, their goals, hopes, dreams, what their lives will be like, and what kinds of changes they will experience in their lifetime. Yet another reminder that educational practices of today must be altered in order to keep up with the fast-changing times.

  • They added computers to my 10 year old son's classroom, but my son knows more about them then his teacher. Maybe that is part of the problem.
  • Of course it is. Kids know more about computers than their teachers, they spend more time on the net than their elders....educational practices should be changed to fit the habits of students today and prepare them for the future jobs of tomorrow.
  • What a great, powerful video! And certainly some classrooms are starting to adapt, though, the majority most likely are not. Even in my 4 year old's pre-k class, they're starting to use Smartboards, to get kids touching and moving things right on the screen.

    Thanks for posting this vid!
  • Thanks Andrew for your kind words :-)
